Kaluga in the sun — a well-deserved break with my partner
Some ski mornings end exactly as they should. Legs a little heavy, a smile on our faces, the sun beating down on the snow — and the irresistible urge to settle down somewhere, catch our breath, and enjoy the best the mountain has to offer: time standing still.
That day, with Jérôme, my partner and accomplice in the Shah Prestige adventure, we had planned to mark the occasion in a rather special way.
After the Slopes, the Kaluga
A few hours of skiing on the slopes of Ordino Arcalís, under a generous sun that transformed every turn into a postcard. And then, naturally, the break became essential. Deckchairs, an unobstructed view of the slopes, an absolutely blue sky — the kind of moment when you understand why you chose to live in Andorra.
We brought out the Kaluga Signature Shah Darya.
Accompanied by a good, cold beer — because yes, caviar and the mountains have their own dress code, and it doesn’t always demand champagne — the Kaluga found its place on that snowy terrace with disconcerting ease.

What Kaluga Does in the Mountains
There’s something special about tasting Kaluga in this context. This caviar, born from the Huso Dauricus sturgeon after fifteen to twenty years of maturation, carries a depth and persistence on the palate that resonates with the vast open spaces. It is not fragile. It is not timid. It settles in, it blossoms, and it lingers — long after the first bite.
Between sips of beer and glances at the skiers descending the slopes below, Jérôme and I savored this moment with the quiet camaraderie of two people building something together, who sometimes take the time to realize how lucky they are.
Between Partners, But Especially Between Friends
What makes this moment precious is not so much the setting — even if Arcalís is hard to beat — nor even the caviar, exceptional as it is. It’s that special camaraderie that develops between two people who share a project, a vision, and enough trust to simply be together, without an agenda or a schedule.
Luxury Has No Dress Code
Shah Darya caviar doesn’t wait for grand occasions. It creates them, wherever you are. A mountain terrace after a morning of skiing, with a friend, a beer, and the sun — that’s a grand occasion. Perhaps even one of the best.
